Chennai-window treatments for your home

Hello Chennaiites,

I thought of this topic as a good idea to give my inputs for the best possible window treatments for your homes, especially during summer months.

Treatments for windows have a variety of options in the market ranging from curtains to blinds to tinted glasses. Nowadays, the trend is to go for blinds.

Even if turns out to slightly expensive, it gives a very contemporary look to the home. They have so many designs, types (chik, roller, venetian etc)

Curtains on the other hand have always been the hot favourite since a very long time. The best part about them if you get tired of seeing the same color, u can always have different backup colors and pattens and use in rotation.

But if you ask me, I favor blinds, they cut a lot of sunlight from entering your home, look trendy, easy to maintain. You can try out different varities of blinds within your home.

Personally, the shop called Ashwini decors in Mylapore has a variety of options and the display is also very good. They also carry curtain rods for people who still want curtains and they recommend curtain fabrics from kalpa druma on cathedral road where the fabrics are so amazing.

I have blinds as window treatments throughout my home except the living room where i have curtains. 4 panels -2 thick and 2 transparent, which give me ample light during day time but also diffuse the heat to a certain extent.
The curtains I picked up at Lifestyle Home centre (Mylapore) where they have a very good collection and display and inexpensive.

For the most inexpensive and temporary way to cut heat and light, there are a lot of blinds weavers that you could see on the street side who do a pretty good job. They do it custom style.

Vetriver when weaved between the blinds is an ideal blind teatment for the kitchen. you could sprinkle water and the kitchen would be cool and smelling great.

Hope my inputs helped to a certain extent. will be adding more details soon. Keep watching this space
